These awards are some of the most important forms of financial aid available to women nationwide. Female students should pursue these targeted scholarships to not only fund their own education but to support the existence of such awards for future students.

Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR)
Offers numerous scholarships to students, both female and male, who are of a variety of majors/disciplines.

American Association of University Women (AAUW)
AAUW Career Development Grants provide funding to women who hold a bachelor's degree and are preparing to advance or change careers or re-enter the workforce. Primary consideration is given to women of color and women pursuing their first advanced degree or credentials in nontraditional fields.

Emerge's mission is to provide scholarships to women whose educations have been interrupted, who have overcome significant obstacles, and who give back to their communities.

Patsy Takemoto Mink Education Foundation
The Foundation will offer five Education Support Awards of up to $5000 each to assist low-income women with children who are pursuing education or training.

Army Women's Foundation
The Legacy Scholarship program offers financial support to Army women and their lineal descendants in four areas: Certificate programs, Community College coursework, Undergraduate Degrees, and Graduate Degrees. Scholarships are awarded only for coursework from accredited institutions. Scholarships are based on merit, academic potential, community service, letters of recommendation, and need.

Jeannette Rankin Women's Scholarship Fund
The Foundation provides scholarships and support for low-income women 35 and older to build better lives through college completion.

Soroptimist
Soroptimist is a global volunteer organization working to improve the lives of women and girls through programs leading to social and economic empowerment. The Soroptimist Live Your Dream Awards (formerly the Women's Opportunity Awards) assists women who provide the primary source of financial support for their families by giving them the resources they need to improve their education, skills and employment prospects.

Women's Independence Scholarship Program (WISP)
The objective of the Women's Independence Scholarship Program is to help survivors of intimate partner abuse obtain an education that will in turn offer them the chance to secure employment, personal independence and self-sufficiency.

Woodrow Wilson Dissertation Fellowships in Women's Studies
The Woodrow Wilson Dissertation Fellowships in Women's Studies encourage original and significant research about women that crosses disciplinary, regional, or cultural boundaries. Fellows have explored such topics as transitional religious education for Muslim women, the complex gender dynamics of transidentity management, women's electoral success across racial and institutional contexts, women's sports, and militarism and the education of American women.
